1 Introduction & Scope
This Privacy Policy explains how the Wordchux mobile game ("Wordchux," "the app," "we," "us," or "our"), published by Undercurrent Art, handles information when you use it on iPhone or iPad. It also applies to this website.
Wordchux is a word-tracing puzzle: you trace words of 2 to 15 letters across a grid of letter tiles, score points, and try to reach the on-device leaderboard. We've designed the game so that we, the developer, do not collect or store your personal data. Some standard platform and advertising services are involved, and those are described in full below.
2 Information We Collect
We, the developer, do not collect any personal information about you. Wordchux has no user accounts, no login, and no sign-up. We do not ask for, transmit, or receive:
- Names, email addresses, phone numbers, or mailing addresses
- Account credentials or passwords
- Your precise location
- Contacts, photos, calendars, or personal files
- Gameplay analytics or behavioral data sent to us
We do not operate any backend server or database that stores information about you. The only data the app creates is saved locally on your device (see Section 3), and certain information is processed by third-party services we rely on, namely Google AdMob and the Apple App Store (see Sections 4β6).
3 Data Stored on Your Device
To make the game work, Wordchux saves a small amount of information locally on your device only (using your device's standard local storage). This data is not transmitted to us and we have no access to it. It includes:
- Your scores and the local leaderboard, including any player name you choose to enter (see Section 8)
- In-game progress and the current board state
- Your found-words history
- App settings and preferences (such as sound and the hints on/off choice)
- A flag recording whether you've purchased "Remove Ads"
You can erase all of this at any time by deleting the app or clearing its data, as described in Section 14.
4 Advertising (Google AdMob)
The free version of Wordchux displays occasional full-screen (interstitial) ads between game sessions. These ads are served by Google AdMob, a service provided by Google. AdMob is a third party and operates under its own privacy policy.
To serve and measure ads, Google AdMob may collect and process certain information from your device, which can include:
- Device information (such as device model, operating system, and language)
- Advertising and app identifiers
- Coarse, IP-based location (approximate region)
- Ad interaction data (such as ad views and taps)
We do not control and do not receive this data; it is handled by Google. To learn how Google uses information from apps that use its services, see Google's Privacy Policy at policies.google.com/privacy and "How Google uses information from sites or apps that use our services" at policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites.
5 In-App Purchases
Wordchux offers a single optional, one-time, non-consumable in-app purchase: "Remove Ads." Purchases are processed entirely by Apple through the App Store using Apple's StoreKit.
We do not see or receive your payment details, credit card number, or Apple Account information. Apple handles the transaction and tells the app only whether you are entitled to the "Remove Ads" upgrade, which we record as a simple yes/no flag on your device. Apple's handling of purchases is governed by Apple's Privacy Policy.
6 Third-Party Services
Wordchux relies on the following third parties. We do not include any analytics SDKs (such as Google Analytics or Firebase Analytics), social media SDKs, or our own cloud services.
- Google AdMob β displays ads in the free version and collects data as described in Section 4. (Privacy Policy)
- Apple App Store / StoreKit β distributes the app and processes the optional in-app purchase. (Privacy Policy)
7 Device Permissions
Wordchux is designed to run with minimal permissions. The app does not request access to your camera, microphone, precise location, contacts, photos, or other sensitive device features. It does not present an App Tracking Transparency prompt and does not ask to track you across other companies' apps and websites.
8 Leaderboard & Player Names
Wordchux includes a 10-slot high-score leaderboard. This leaderboard is local to your device β it is not an online or global leaderboard, and scores are not uploaded or shared with us or other players.
When you earn a qualifying score, you may type a short name or initials to display next to it. That name is stored only on your device alongside the score. If you don't enter a name, a default such as "Anonymous" is used. Entered names are checked against a basic word filter. You can clear the leaderboard at any time by clearing the app's data or uninstalling.
9 Children's Privacy
Wordchux is suitable for a general audience and does not knowingly collect personal information from anyone, including children under 13 (or the equivalent minimum age in your region). We do not have user accounts and do not gather personal data ourselves.
Please note that the free version displays ads served by Google AdMob, which collects device-level data as described in Section 4. If you are a parent or guardian and prefer an ad-free experience for your child, we recommend using the one-time "Remove Ads" purchase, which stops all ad serving. If you believe a child has provided personal information through the app, please contact us and we will help address it.
10 How Data Is Shared
We do not sell, rent, or trade personal information, and we have none to share because we don't collect any. The only data flows are to the third-party services that operate the ads and purchases: Google AdMob (advertising) and Apple (app distribution and purchases), each under their own policies. We would only disclose information if legally required to β and we hold no personal data to disclose.
11 Data Security
Because Wordchux keeps your game data on your device and we operate no servers that store your personal data, there is no central database of users to breach. Your on-device data is protected by your device's own security, such as your passcode, biometrics, and operating-system sandboxing. Data handled by Google and Apple is protected under their respective security practices.
12 Your Privacy Rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights under laws such as the EU/UK GDPR or the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA/CPRA) β including rights to access, correct, delete, or restrict the use of your personal data, and to opt out of its sale or sharing.
Since we do not collect, store, sell, or share your personal information, there is nothing on our side to access, export, or delete. You can remove all locally stored game data yourself at any time (see Section 14).
- Advertising data: To manage the data Google collects for ads, see Google's tools and policies linked in Section 4. You can also reset or limit your device's advertising identifier in your iOS Settings.
- Opt out of ads entirely: Use the one-time "Remove Ads" purchase.
- Non-discrimination: All gameplay features are available regardless of your privacy choices.
13 International Users
Wordchux is available worldwide. We do not transfer or store your personal data ourselves. Any data processed by Google (for ads) or Apple (for purchases) may be handled in accordance with their global privacy frameworks. The app is intended to align with major privacy regulations including the GDPR (EU/UK), CCPA/CPRA (California), and comparable laws.
14 Data Retention & Deletion
We retain no personal data about you, so there is nothing for us to keep or delete on our side. The only Wordchux data that exists is stored locally on your device and is kept until you remove it. To delete all Wordchux data, you can:
- Clear the leaderboard from within the app (where available), and/or
- Delete the app, which removes all locally stored game data, scores, and settings.
For data held by Google or Apple, please refer to their respective privacy policies and account controls.
15 Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time β for example, if we add features or change how ads or purchases work. When we do, we'll revise the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Significant changes will be described clearly here.
