The second time I went to this spot, I startled two young deer who ran down the trail in the painting. Maybe they left behind the two ticks that I found on me. 16″ x 20″ Oil on board

The path of least resistance, though you might get a few bumps and scrapes along the way. Jones Gap is near Greenville, SC and near the log cabin my dad built off Devil’s Fork Road. Shady and cool. 20″ x 16″ oil on canvas
This one is from Hard Climb Hill, but since the hard climb isn’t apparent in this painting, I’m reserving the title for future work. 18″ x 24″, oil on canvas.
Painting this, an observer told me he was the last person to work on the dam. About twenty years ago, the operator of the dam got disgruntled and lodged 2 x 4s somehow to sabotage the dam and render it useless. People were canoeing, kayaking, fishing, swimming and hiking. More information here.
24″ x 18″, Oil on canvas.
I worked with a great team at the N.C. Zoo in Asheboro to build the interactive kiosk at their Solar Pointe exhibit. Stacey Brown, Betsy Powell and Lance Hill designed the site and I Actionscripted the kiosk with the help of Adobe’s AIR runtime.
There’s still time to sign up for my drawing class at the Carrboro Arts Center.
We’ll work on basics via still lifes, plein air, portraiture, figure drawing and illustration.

I got outside to do some sketching just before dusk today. I was headed to a high point but crossed water and had to stop there. Trails and water!
Sea Urchins will be back on a weekly every Monday schedule starting Jan. 10.
I’ve been more active updating the Carolina Adobe User Group website than I have been updating this site. It’s slowly growing, but there are lots of good development links over there now. Big plans for 2011.
